The event will feature Luca Peyronel and Agnese Vacca, who will present the University of Milan’s archaeological research at the sites of Helawa and Aliawa in Iraqi Kurdistan. The talk will offer insight into northern Mesopotamia and the development of the Erbil Plain, from prehistoric villages to great empires, also անդր reflecting on the role of archaeology in safeguarding cultural heritage in conflict-affected contexts.
The initiative is the fourth appointment in the lecture series Unveiling the Past. The State University’s Archaeology Meets the City, dedicated to the University of Milan’s excavations and organized in collaboration with the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro.
